Can you imagine how the camera phone will be in 5 years?
Posted by eightdots™ Labels: gadget, information, mobile phone, technologyFirst of all, there is a question to ask the readers. What do you think is the thing the current world most afraid of?? Jobless??? Dumped by lovers?? Bankrupt? WRONG WRONG WRONG!!!
In the 21st Century, more than 50% of the people most afraid to have lost their mobile phone. Funny? I don't think so. It is shown in an article that half of the people around the world have a phobia of losing their own mobile phone. So are you one of these people? You might feel relieve after knowing that half the people around the world is just same as me but don't get happy so early.
There is another report which shows that since people are so afraid of can't get in touch with others. They've tend to on their phone 24 hours a day (I am one of those) and it brings impact to health problem because of the radiation comes from the mobile phone. Read more on WiKi regarding this matter.
And since the number of mobile phone users is like triple of the total smokers in the world, mobile phone also kills more than cigarette. (I bet you didn't know mobile phone kills that much of people) when all the time the media and government tell us not to smoke, they did not control on how phone maker manufacture the phone.
But for me. Just like any other smokers. We can't just get rid of mobile phone right? Just remember, if possible just try to put it further from you when you're sleeping.
Can you convince others when you don't believe in it?

I think a lot these days on how I can convince the customers to purchase a newly develop products. The ideas of the product is so brilliant. In one single box, you can actually used for multipurpose.
Put in a 3G sim card where you can get HSDPA network (up to 3.6Mbps from Celcom, Maxis or U-Mobile). The product will becomes a internet gateway + router where you can share your broadband connection out through the build in WiFi. This will be the first features - Share your wireless broadband. Unlike other USB HSDPA modem where you can only use for a single PC/ Laptop. This is more useful.
Other than that, it can become your office phone. Not only one phone but with multiple extension (like intercom within your small office). Isn't that great? You can do free intercom and these extension can do outgoing call through GSM call. You can also have auto attendant to help pick up the call and transfer let the person to leave down message, dial an extension. The second features of the product - IP-PBX
SMS. SMS has becoming one of the powerful tools for business and many of the business does not know how to adopt this powerful features. You can't just save all your business partners in the phone and use your mobile phone to send out SMS all the time? That just don't feel right. Ok. This product can share the application out. When you connect to this product using the WiFi, you can actually use it's built-in web based application to send SMS, delayed SMS, group SMS. Save your appointments, meetings, phone books, to-do list and other useful features in the box. It will remind you by sending you SMS or email on your appointment. Isn't that great?
Not only that, you can even plug a USB printer and it will auto configure itself to be used by all the client who connects to it. Becoming a print server.
When you heard of something like this, you'll feel that it is really a powerful product but I just don't feels like I'm having confident to the product. I can't force myself to just sell the item because I know the problem behind it.
The 3.6Mbps speed sounds fascinating but it has a quota set by the Telco limited to each line on 3GB / month. Not only that, the speed is on a best basis which means it is not going to reach 3.6Mbps somehow. For me, I'd never tried on more than 500Kbps. Even streamyx will have a slightly stable and a guarantee of 75% of the speed, but not on the 3G broadband. 500Kbps some more you'll have to share with your office colleagues and with a quota limitation. How can you expect the performance to be at a reasonable standard?
Second thing. Yes, it can have multiple extension but there is only 1 incoming call and 1 outgoing call at a time which is a very limitation compared to the current PBX where it can support multiple lines. If such expensive item can support up to 15 - 20 users where all are only sharing for 1 line then it is a bit of unacceptable. But if you said the item support only 5 users then there is no need to use such expensive item. Either way, our product is in a Grey area of both the usage.
Third thing. Yes the most important thing is the stability. The product still not stable and our development teams can't manage to know what problems is it. It hangs sometimes and it works find sometimes. But sometime it hangs quite often (every 20 - 30 minutes). REMEMBER!!! if the product hangs that means you're no longer having internet connection, you can't make calls and receive calls, you can't print or send SMS or even access the box. You'll have to restart the whole box and wait for 1 minute at least for it to recover. But if it happens to often, you won't be able to finish even your email download.
Last thing, the print server. I don't think it works anyway. You can plug in a printer but you'll never be able to use the printer. That is a big issue.
I just can't convince myself knowing all these problems but remain to convince customers to buy and say that it is super stable and reliable. I am so confuse now!!! If I leave the company, I am just another jerk who doesn't have patient to hold long and if I stay, I'll have to sell this piece of product......What will you do???
There are WiFi detector software built for smartphone as well as for PDA phone. Because we need to scan the area for any WiFi signal. It would be even more useful in the future when Malaysia have WiFi area at most of the places.
We know Star Bucks have WiFi enabled but what about other places? Therefore it is very useful to have a WiFi detector with you. How should the detector looks like and how does it binds into your lifestyle??
Wear it out... I must say..
This battery operated T-shirt is one big WiFi detector which you can wear it out whenever you want.
The WiFi visual in the middle of the T-Shirt is animated and it is operated using batteries for it to works hours. Don't you think it is so cool??
It is a business market even in Malaysia...
GPS has becoming so popular now days. You can even get one for less than RM300 for a bluetooth GPS module for those mobile phone or even laptops that does not comes with built-in GPS chip set.
I've got mine 1 month ago and it works perfectly with my Nokia N80 as well as HTC Touch. Although you can't expect it to work in a super accurate mode but it can definitely bring you to places where you wish to go (but of course some time you need to spend more cause it is directing you using the long way instead of a short-cut way).
There is now a super portable GPS module that is built for notebook computer. You must be wondering why is it so different from other bluetooth GPS device?
YES. Correct, it is a mouse with a built-in GPS chip set which makes it the most portable GPS chip set for your laptop computer.
When I first saw this litter picture, I litter weird I must say. And how the hell those people are going to use it???
We know that we use PDA or smartphone with GPS is because it is mobile and portable and we always carry it around. Does that means that we have to bring our laptop around or maybe inside the car just to use the GPS function? We know GPS doesn't work indoor right? (at least I know).
I can't see the market but still ... They're creative I must say...
After taking in charge of Apple Product in my company. I somehow feels like Apple product is part of me. Switching from a Windows user to a Mac users and always play around with iPod. It just hit my life.
I finally understand what it means when they said Apple products will bind into our lifestyle. It is so challenging when doing on Apple products because technology world is very competitive, everything must be fast, accurate and sharp. We must also try different things to hit the market and steer up the market when it is dull.
On 5th of September. Steve Jobs (CEO and Founder of Apple Inc) of Apple finally announced the latest range of iPod which had been discussed as rumors for months.
Full range of iPod will be the iPod Shuffle, iPod Nano, iPod Classic (Previously known as iPod or iPod Video) and the latest version of iPod Touch (which is a similar version of technology like the iPhone)
Lets us talk one by one about these products.
First of all, the iPod Shuffle. It is still 1GB nothing much of a changes of iPod Shuffle. iPod Shuffle has an innovative way of listening to musics to younger generations as well as the music enthusiastic.
When we listen to the name we know how it is exactly design. It is design to play musics in shuffle mode.
But this seasons, Apple will release a full range of new colors for the iPod Shuffle. I bet that there are still people will like the previous colors which will be limited until the products finish selling in the market.
iPod Nano
Still the most popular music players in the world. And now smaller with larger screen size and also comes with full range of colors with 4GB and 8GB of space size.
And one more thing that will hit the market, it now even plays videos in this little cool gadget. How nice it is when you can save like 5 movies on the go in this small gadgets.
It also preview all your photos, calendar, contacts and even games (although iPod game is not popular in Malaysia but still, it supports)
It is able to play a 24 hours of musics or 5 hours of video.
iPod Classic
Now comes with thinner size. And one thing that amazed is that the 30GB and 80GB previously had now been replaced by 80GB and 160GB. Wow~~~ a 160GB, that is a lot of spaces for all your craps inside. Still remember those days where our computers only comes in 6.4 GB or even 10GB. Now this litter thing comes with 160GB. How good is that.
But still, the functions is similar to Nano.
Lastly. The latest line up product of iPod -- the iPod Touch.
Comes with the design like the iPhone but without the communications functions.
It uses the iPod and view photo just like an iPhone with the multi-touch interface.
You’ll find Safari, YouTube, Calendar, Clock, and Calculator. Each of these works just as it does on the iPhone—Safari operates in both portrait and landscape mode and all the flick and pinch motions work just as they do on the iPhone—with the exception that any connection to a phone or e-mail application has been severed. For example, if you go into a contact’s Info screen, you can look at that contact’s phone number or email address but, unlike with the iPhone, tapping these bits of text won’t initiate a phone call or create an e-mail.
Those guys out there that can't wait for an iPhone or think that iPhone is so cool because of its iPod, Photo and touchscreen. You can try the iPod Touch just to fulfill your iPhone dream at the moment.
It will soon be in Malaysia next week. Get out there and see for yourself.
Technology has improve so fast that the human cannot even cope up. Now they started to even operate a restaurant that is fully automated and with no human interaction at all. Imagine going into a restaurant and order with monitor, eat without anyone serving you. No pretty waitress there for you to talk about with your friends.. It is kind of boring as well unless those who like to be alone and do not wish to see anyone there looking and serving you, this restaurant will be your good choice.
Customers order on touch screens, swipe their cards on built in readers, and wait for their food with a read-out that shows when the food is expected to be delivered. So, get ready to yell at your ordinateur when your fries are late. "Garcon!" ain't gonna cut it in this restaurant.

Motorola used to be first then second. And now, Samsung had just overtake Motorola on their mobile phone sales. Read the following article.
Samsung's shipments were up 50% year over year.
As the two, next-largest handset vendors fling themselves at the dual prospects of entry-level phones in emerging markets and upgrade cycles in mature markets, all in an effort to compete with Nokia Corp.’s breakaway, a few rivets are coming loose.
Motorola Inc.’s historic stumble has enabled Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. to seize, by a hair, the global, second-place ranking in market share.
Samsung churned out 37.4 million handsets in the second quarter, compared with Motorola’s self-projected volume of 35 million to 36 million. Samsung’s unit volume is up nearly 50% over the year-ago quarter. Analysts said that the vendor’s efforts in emerging markets are finding a degree of success and, like Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications, it has capitalized on Motorola’s weakness in the European market to gain share.
Samsung’s financial results on its massive second-quarter volume play are another matter. The overall company earned revenue of $16 billion for the second quarter, a 4% nudge up from the year-ago quarter. Net income in the quarter was $1.5 billion, down 5% from the year-ago quarter.
Samsung’s average selling price, as in Sony Ericsson’s case, has eroded with a push for market share. Samsung’s ASP in the quarter was $148, a 5% drop from the previous quarter.
The company attributed its performance to its Ultra Edition line of handsets in mature markets and its increased volume of entry-tier handsets in emerging markets.

Have been assigned to handle Apple Ipod
Posted by eightdots™ Labels: gadget, information, technology
After assisting my manager in handling on Canon products for 6 months in my company. I am now been assigned to handle Apple Ipod. I've never used an Ipod before until when I was assigned to handle the product, I have request different models of it to play with.
I finally understands why it is selling so good in the U.S. It is really a piece of art rather than just a normal MP3 player where you can find almost anywhere in the market selling at dirt cheap price.
Apple Inc. has always popular for their innovation and the Ipod is one of their most innovative ever production that change how the world listen to musics. Remember when the days when we were using our Walkman and we were so eagerly to show to the world?? And after the MP3 has been invented that the Walkman finally walks out of our life. The Ipod is the second thing that gives us the feeling just like when we have our own Walkman back in the past.
Ipod product is Malaysia is still fresh and niche because there are many people that do not really understands how Ipod works. They thought that it is just another MP3 players around. Give you some example of how it actually works.
Talks about Ipod Shuffle - because it is being research and found by Apple that most of the people that buy cheap MP3 players actually do not use much of the functions. What their intention is basically just ------> listen to musics. And most of these people listen to their musics is on the shuffle mode and this is why the Ipod Shuffle actually created to be. To let you listen to your musics in Shuffle mode. Of course the new Shuffle actually allows you to listen it without shuffle but still it is giving you what you want.
The Ipod Shuffle is currently the smallest MP3 player around the world which allows you to clip anywhere with its design to have a clip.
Another example given to the Ipod Video. Before going deeper into the Ipod Video. Lets take a look at the ITunes. I would recommend those that have yet to use an ITunes to download and use it (Try it, its free after all). It is one of the most advance and nice player for your PC. You can subscribe Podcast in your ITunes and also buy musics and movies over there. You can also turn it into an Internet Radio.
Imagine taking your Ipod Video out and sit to wait for your friends or waiting for a bus. You can actually take your Ipod Video out and play with it. Will you be impress if you see that there are a few new downloads of Podcast, or Movie in your Ipod Video without even knowing it there.
Handling these kind of products really give me energy to move even further and recommend it to the market. But however, there is one thing that I am waiting for ------------- IPhone.
IPhone is yet to be launch in Malaysia but I hope it will be coming out soon as it is one of the finest gadgets that I've ever seen on the market. And I know it will really hit the market hard with this piece of product that combines an IPhone and a Cellphone.
After all, it is used by Steve Jobs (Founder of Apple and CEO of current Apple Inc.) Guess he is the first person on the world who owns one of it.

If you're one of those guys that hates Internet Explorer (as a web browser), at least I am one of them. And I uses Mozilla Firefox for quite sometime until this innovative product that I find -- SAFARI.
First Hotmail then Yahoo then Gmail, Now Hotmail again?
Posted by eightdots™ Labels: information, technologyIf those who is almost the same age with me. I could say that most of the first email will be Hotmail. Still remember the first email address you created with full of excitement?
Then YahooMail seems to brainwash most of the people and soon most of them convert to Yahoo with the special Yahoo Messenger. It seems to be very nice using yahoo with 10MB on those days because Hotmail only offering a litter 250MB of space which I guess most of the time will be full.
Gmail comes at a BOOMMM when they announced that they would be the first who offer 1GB of email space which they only allow invitation. Well I can say I am still using Gmail at this moment. Now they've improve, with chat, search, unlimited counting space and so much more.
Microsoft now announce the new Windows Live Hotmail. Isn't it a cool name? Will you change back to this wonderful Hotmail after their improvement?

It has rumors saying that Iphone in the previous post which has comes true. Now another rumors coming true. Google Exec confirms that google phone is in the google RnD Lab. Guess what kind of features will be having in the GPhone ??? Google Calender, Blogger, YouTube, Gmail.... Interesting isn't it?

Personal Review:
As a Symbian Smartphone user, I finally got the chance to use the Windows Mobile smartphone. Comparing these two isn't a good choice because it is like comparing a Honda Accord with Toyota Camry which can be said almost both has its plus and minus.
Symbian is good at smartphone. They gives you a superb smartphone experience if you uses it. You can almost do anything using the Symbian Smartphone however some of the features like you will of cause need a third party software in order to work nicely for example a nice fileExplorer is needed for Symbian phone and a software for viewing photo and watching video is also needed. However, these software can easily found in any places. Tons of freeware for Symbian are available in the net ready for you to download.
Windows Mobile is good at design. They offer you a classic look and I bet you will look a few times handsome and pretty with a Windows Mobile PocketPC or Smartphone. Windows Mobile create lovely PDA phone and good functionality. However, in term of Smartphone I can say that is lack of software. Microsoft should be aggressively looking for business partner or software developers. Without all these software - a smartphone is no difference from a normal phone. The internal available software is pretty useful but lag of software like conversion, notepad in smartphone which sometimes you need to white down some notes. Customization is not like Symbian where you can do magic with your phone, all because the lag of the third party software. But you can still do almost everything with it that Symbian phone can. Internet Explorer and Windows Media player here is definitely a plus for the phone.
So~~ made up your mind which phone you're looking for?
Dopod Athena - U1000 - - - - - Laptop or mobile phone?
